Compares nulls, numbers, dates or lower-case text representations; returns a negative number, zero or a positive number.

Parameters a/b may be null. null sorts before other values. Numbers and DateTime values compare numerically/chronologically; other values compare as lower-case text. Returns an int following compareTo conventions.
